The New Pacemakers

The New Pacemakers
i'm the one
Gerry and the PaceMakers gigged the same Liverpool & Hamburg club circuit as did the Beatles and so many groups trying to make a name for themselves.
Gerry and the boys did not have to wait too long though as in 1962 it happened. They were offered a record deal by Beatles Manager Brian Epstein, making Gerry and the Pacemakers a second group to add to his management stable, just behind his second group the Beatles.

It was during the following year, under the direction of record producer George Martin, that they burst on the music scene with three fantastic No.1 hits How Do You Do It - I Like It and You'll Never Walk Alone. finally proving themselves as serious competitors to the Beatles.

Over the next few years, the majority of the Pacemakers forthcoming hits were actually written by Gerry Marsden himself, they include It's All Right - I'm the One - Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying and not forgetting the beautiful Ferry Cross the Mersey, which went on to be Gerry's signature tune and was also adopted by the fans on the terraces of Liverpool football club.

The Pacemakers disbanded in 1966 so that Gerry could pursue a solo career, and the band members tried different things.

The Pacemakers were reformed by Gerry in 1974 using a new line up.
2019 saw Gerry Marsden retire and long standing pacemaker guitarist Steve Thompson will continue what gerry started all those years ago with 'THE NEW PACEMAKERS'
